After that, other stores \u2062also raised their starting pay.\u2062 For instance,<\/p>\n
Best Buy and Amazon now offer at least $15 \u2062per hour, while Costco has a starting wage of $17 per hour.<\/p>\n
Now, Target is once again planning to raise the \u2063starting wage for \u2063its employees. \u200c<\/p>\n
This time they are \u200doutdoing their rivals by saying they will pay up to $24 an hour.<\/p>\n
However, not every retail worker will automatically\u2064 get this increase in salary.<\/p>\n
The new starting \u200dwage will vary based on the market \u200cand specific job roles. <\/p>\n
Target hasn\u2019t revealed which \u2062markets or positions will see this pay rise.<\/p>\n
Target\u2019s CEO Brian Cornell \u2062mentioned\u2064 to The Associated \u2062Press, \u201cThe market has changed.<\/p>\n
We want to keep our leading position\u2064 in the industry.\u201d<\/p>\n
A jump from $15 to $24 is quite a big deal but that\u2019s not all they\u2019re changing!<\/p>\n
Target is also \u200dimproving access\u2063 to health\u2062 care benefits.<\/p>\n
Beforehand, store workers needed to work at least 30 hours each \u2063week \u200cfor health care<\/p>\n
coverage but now it\u2019s being \u200clowered to\u200b just 25 hours weekly! Plus, they\u2019re <\/p>\n
cutting down on\u2062 how long employees have\u2062 to wait for their health care benefits.<\/p>\n
In a press release, Melissa Kremer who is Target\u2019s chief \u2062human resources officer\u2064 said:<\/p>\n
\u201cOur team is central to our strategy and success; their energy and strength help us <\/p>\n
meet our guests\u2019 changing needs year after year. We always listen closely so we can<\/p>\n
understand what matters most then use that feedback for investments that support\u200d them through different career stages.\u201d<\/p>\n

investing in our\u2062 caring culture meaningful pay expanded health care benefits and <\/p>\n

With around 350000 employees and about 1900 stores nationwide ,Target \u2062plans on <\/p>\n
investing roughly $300 million into its workforce in 2022 with these salary increases & added\u200d benefits!<\/p>\n
