In 2015, four Calgary teens—Arnaud Nimenya, Carsyn Wright, James Hielema,
and Starlyn Rives-Perez—witnessed a man carrying a distressed girl at Chinook Mall.
Trusting their instincts, they followed him and discovered him assaulting the girl
in a stairwell. The teens intervened, restraining the man until police arrived.
Their brave actions led to the man’s arrest. In 2016, they were honored
at the Calgary Police Chief’s Awards Gala for their courage
