Despite advances in research, some aspects of the human body remain a mystery.

A recent study suggests that humans can subconsciously sense when death is near

by detecting putrescine, a foul odor released during decomposition. Researchers

Arnaud Wisman and Ilan Shira found that like animals, humans respond to this scent

by moving away, signaling a survival instinct. Though people are unaware of the

odor and its connection to death, exposure to it triggers subconscious reactions,

such as increased vigilance and avoidance, unlike the attraction caused by s*x pheromones
