Prince Philip’s ?????? nickname for Meghan Markle revealed

According to a royal specialist, the late Prince Philip had a fairly pointed nickname for the Duchess of Sussex, and it was not pleasant.

The nickname drew parallels between Meghan Markle and Wallis Simpson, the infamous wife of former King Edward VIII, both of whom were divorced when they married into the royal family.

Prince Philip allegedly referred to Meghan using a moniker that alluded to this connection.

Wallis Simpson and King Edward VIII

Wallis Simpson, an American divorcee who became the Duchess of Windsor, became one of the most controversial royal personalities in recent history after King Edward VIII abdicated the throne in December 1936 (after less than a year as monarch) to marry her.

According to the Royal Observer, royals were not allowed to marry divorced people at the time, a regulation that did not change until 2002, just three years before the then-Prince Charles wed Camilla.

Following King Edward and Wallis Simpson’s marriage, they were not allowed to return home without the approval of his brother, the new King George VI, due to concerns that it would provoke popular turmoil, according to Vogue.

During their years in exile, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor were regularly in the news, with one of the most sh0cking incidents occurring in 1937, when they visited Nazi Germany and were pictured giving the notorious Nazi salute upon meeting Adolf Hitler.

Prince Philip’s ?????? nickname

During an interview with GB News, royal biographer Ingrid Seward revealed Prince Philip’s opinion, claiming that he saw numerous similarities between Meghan and Wallis Simpson, prompting the creation of a covert moniker for the Duchess of Sussex.

According to Seward, Prince Philip, who was recognized for his keen sense of character, couldn’t help but see the similarities between Meghan and Prince Harry, as well as Edward and Mrs. Simpson.

“I think that Prince Philip was very canny about people and he didn’t always see bad in people, he often tried to see the good in them,” Seward said.

“He just could not get away from the similarities between Meghan and Harry and Edward and Ms Simpson, which his why he used to call her the Duchess of Windsor. Not to her face though, he used to call her DOW,” she added.

In her book ‘My Mother and I’, Seward delves more into Prince Philip’s worries about Meghan, describing him as “wary” of the former Suits actress and her possible impact on the royal family.

While Prince Philip viewed Meghan as potentially disruptive, Queen Elizabeth II had “high hopes” for her, suggesting opposing views within the royal family about Meghan’s role and impact.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left royal life

Meghan and Harry have kept a quiet profile in the royal world since they stepped down from their royal duties in 2020 and moved to California.

While Harry is scheduled to visit the UK for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, a service will be held at St. Paul’s Cathedral on May 8, according to the Daily Express. Meghan is anticipated to remain in the United States, citing safety concerns and a wish to avoid sparking controversy.

Despite periodic visits to the UK for major events such as Queen Elizabeth II’s burial in 2022, Meghan has declined to attend others, like as King Charles III’s coronation, which Harry attended alone last year.

In the midst of continual monitoring and public curiosity in her relationship with the royal family, Meghan has clearly chosen to prioritize her safety and calm.
