Two people were killed on Wednesday when a private jet crashed into houses
near San Fernando, Buenos Aires Province, after going off the runway.
The victims, pilot Martín Fernández Loza, 44, and co-pilot Agustín Oforte,
35, died in the crash, which occurred at 1:18pm local time. The plane,
a Bombardier Challenger 300, had flown in from Punta del Este, Uruguay,
and failed to stop while landing at San Fernando Airport. It collided with
houses outside the airport, but no one in the homes was injured. The aircraft
belonged to the family of Jorge Brito, owner of Banco Macro and president
of River Plate football club. The cause of the crash is under investigation
