Fans Slam Meghan Markle for Wearing Expensive Jewelry While Visiting Eaton Fire Victims

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been actively helping those

affected by the destructive wildfires that have devastated Southern California.

Online users had differing opinions about the Duke and Duchess

of Sussex’s second visit to Pasadena in a week on Friday, January 10, 2025.

The royal couple talked about community recovery and wildfire relief

when they were there, and they gave victims food and other necessities.

Earlier in the week, they delivered food to people who had been displaced by the flames in an inconspicuous manner.

Their current visit, however, caused controversy on the internet

when some fans chastised Meghan for donning pricey jewelry.

The former actress was the target of online criticism for wearing

a Cartier bracelet in a video from the occasion.

Social media platforms lit up with comments about Meghan’s choice of

accessories. Some expressed plain disapproval. One user wrote,

“Photo ops … she shows up wearing 50k in Cartier jewelry lol [sic].”

Another commented, “She had to wear a Cartier bracelet for that? Fake.”

A third added, “Wearing her best Cartier love bracelet jewelry to help out!”

“it’s not time to look perfect or prim and proper. If you want to help

you leave jewelry at home and try not to get in the lens of the camera [sic]…” another wrote.

Despite the negative comments, others praised the couple for their efforts.

One user shared, “They’re always so caring and helpful to [sic] others.” Another simply stated, “Very nice [of] them.”

The couple’s commitment extends beyond their outward appearances,

notwithstanding the criticism. They highlighted the extent of

the wildfire damage and offered options to assist in an official statement.

“In the last few days, wildfires in Southern California have raged through neighborhoods and devastated families, homes, schools, medical care centers, and so much more – affecting tens of thousands from all walks of life,” the statement read. They knew the state of emergency and encouraged the public to support organizations offering direct aid.
