GOP Rep. Barry Loudermilk announced that House Speaker Mike Johnson
plans to create a new committee to investigate the January 6, 2021,
Capitol attack. This move aims to expand Loudermilk’s prior work, which
criticized the original January 6 committee for focusing heavily on Trump.
Johnson has pledged full funding for the effort, which will likely grant him
more control over the panel’s structure. Republicans are also renewing investigations
into President Biden’s handling of classified documents and the Hunter Biden case.
Meanwhile, Sen. Adam Schiff spoke against Biden issuing broad pardons to those involved
in the January 6 committee, warning against setting a dangerous precedent.
