Mara Gonçalves Ern, a 74-year-old woman in Itajaí, Brazil, moved to a nursing
home in February due to her declining physical strength, leaving behind her beloved dog, Bob.
However, Bob couldn’t accept being apart from her. Determined, he escaped multiple times to find her,
even staying outside the nursing home for 17 days, howling to get her attention.
After several escape attempts and his unwavering loyalty, the nursing home allowed Bob
to live in their kennel. This solution brought joy to Mara and Bob, as they could now
spend time together daily. Bob’s presence also improved Mara’s mood and self-esteem,
with the home’s psychologist highlighting his role in her adaptation.
The other residents enjoy Bob’s cheerful energy, making him a beloved part of the community
