At the actual event, however, it seems that the singer ran into some problems which she had to figure out on the fly.

Carrie Underwood was the first performer to perform after Donald J. Trump
gave his 30-minute inaugural address, marking the beginning of his second term as President of the United States.
The singer was standing in front of former President Joe Biden and Vice President
Kamala Harris. She was to sing âAmerica the Beautifulâ when they ran into a technical
issue with the singerâs background music which forced her to go a capella with the song.
She did not let the technical malfunction faze her as she hit the big notes in the song seamlessly.
The singer wore a sleeveless white dress which draped over her. She hit the notes
beautifully and a lot of people who were gathered in the Capitol Rotunda sang along with her.
After Underwood concluded her singing, she shook Bidenâs hand, who seemed to
have mouthed the words âgreat jobâ to her. Carrie Underwood then shook hands
with President Donald Trump and vice president JD Vance.
The country music superstarâs participation in the inauguration day celebrations
was not appreciated by everyone. She said in a statement, âI love our country and
am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part
of this historic event. I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must
all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.â
Many of those who were disappointed in the singer were from the LGBTQ+ community
who had considered Carrie Underwood an ally because of her 2017 son, âLove Wins.â
The lyrics of the song criticized divisive politics, âPolitics and prejudice/How
the hellâd it ever come to this?â and âWhen everybodyâs got to pick a side/It donât
matter if youâre wrong or right.â The song was considered to signal that Underwood supported same-sex marriage.
