Investigators are looking into the cause of a collision between American Airlines Flight 5342

and a Black Hawk helicopter over Washington, D.C. on January 29, 2025.

The crash killed all 64 people aboard the plane and three soldiers in the helicopter. The helicopter,

on a training mission, was flying in a specialized corridor but appeared to be 100 feet above its allowed altitude and veered off course.

The plane and helicopter were just 300 feet apart when the collision occurred. The National

Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating, with initial reports expected in 30 days.

Investigations also suggest possible issues with altitude and route adherence.
