Despite advances in technology and research, some aspects of the human body
remain a mystery. One such phenomenon is our ability to sense death approaching.
Researchers Arnaud Wisman and Ilan Shira suggest that, like animals, humans can
subconsciously detect putrescine, a foul odor released during decomposition. Exposure
to this scent triggers a natural response: humans instinctively move away, much like
animals that flee or fight when sensing danger. While we may not consciously associate
the scent with death, it heightens our vigilance, much like the effect of pheromones, which signal attraction or mating behavior
