A sign outside a Dairy Queen in Kewaskum, Wisconsin, has sparked online controversy
for its emphasis on traditional holiday greetings and expressions of gratitude to veterans.
The sign, which includes phrases like “Merry Christmas” and “Happy Easter,” was erected
by owner Kevin Scheunemann nearly four years ago to reflect his commitment to serving God and country.
It originally went up in response to a customer complaint about Christian music in the restaurant.
While the sign had not caused further issues until recently, it gained attention
after an Oregon tourist posted a photo of it on Facebook, igniting a debate about inclusivity.
Some support the message, while others criticize its visibility. Local business owners
have defended Scheunemann, stating customers are free to leave if they disagree.
