Kelly Clarkson admits she won’t rule out spankings if her children get out of line

As a parent, we can discipline our kids how we want to, as long as they won’t be in danger.

One of the most controversial topics when it comes to parenting style is whether spanking is an acceptable form of discipline or not.

Parenting styles differ.
Most people will tell you that spanking a tiny human being is abuse, while others say that you’re just teaching them a lesson.

Kelly Clarkson shared her thoughts.
Kelly was asked in her interview about her parenting style.

Since she’s now a mother of two beautiful kids, River Rose and Remy, and a stepmother for two older kids, she explained that for her, spanking is an effective disciplinary action.

According to the talented host and singer, she spanks her kids.

“I’m not above a spanking, which people aren’t necessarily into,” she admitted in her interview. “And I don’t mean like hitting her hard. I just meant a spanking.”

She was being honest.
She didn’t feel right to deny this because, for her, this type of parenting style works.

Kelly also clarified that she does not hurt her kids. Spanking is just spanking, and she wanted everyone else to know that her kids are not being hurt.

Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, Kelly said that spanking in her hometown is a common practice.

Kelly herself grew up with it.
She even shared that when she was a kid, she also received spankings.

The celebrity firmly believes that kids sometimes need to experience this type of discipline to know how to behave properly.

A lack of discipline shows.
In her interview with ET Canada, she talks about seeing kids who were spoiled, and according to her; you know they haven’t been disciplined.

“You know what, where I grew up, it works, and where I grew up, people are kind and they open doors, and they say thank you and they say please, and they’re respectful,” Kelly shared her interview with ET Canada.

It’s not a go-to practice.
Though, Kelly also clarified that she just doesn’t spank the kids right away.

She gives them warnings before the spanking. She also has a lot of patience when dealing with her kids.

“I warn her! I’m like ‘Hi, I’m going to spank you on your bottom if you don’t stop right now like, this is ridiculous.”

It was never her goal to hurt, manipulate or control her children, like other people often think.

For Kelly, it’s a form of discipline that she grew up on and she knows that it works, so she’s imposing it too.

Though, as a public personality, she also shared that she’s aware of this generation and how improper it would be if she would spank her kids in public.

“… that’s a tricky thing when you’re out in public, ’cause then people are like, you know, they think that’s wrong or something, but I find nothing wrong with a spanking,” Kelly told Audacy.

We all have our own ways of disciplining our kids, and we know what methods work for them or not.

Every situation is different.
After all, we only have one wish for our kids – to grow up kind, respectful, and full of compassion.
