To Pay for My Daughter’s Education

When my daughter Lily’s scholarship was revoked, I was desperate. With no way to afford tuition, I turned to the last person

I expected—my boss, Nathan. Instead of turning me down, he made an unexpected offer: pretend to be his fiancée for

one weekend to secure his inheritance, and in return, he’d pay Lily’s tuition in full.

I agreed. That weekend, everything changed. Lily bonded with Nathan instantly, and I saw a softer side of him—late-night ice cream, old movies, laughter.

It started to feel real. Then I overheard his grandmother calling me a mistake and threatening to disinherit him. Heartbroken, I left before sunrise.

But Nathan showed up the next day, saying, “You didn’t hear the rest. I told her I love you. And Lily.” He stood his ground—and

his father supported him for the first time. Nathan didn’t lose his future. He chose us. And in doing so,

we all gained something far greater: love, family, and a future we never expected, but always needed.
