Representative Jasmine Crockett, a Democrat from Texas, has come under fire for comments made during a #TeslaTakedown livestream,
where she expressed a desire for Elon Musk to be “taken down” on her birthday. The statement was made amid rising tensions and violent protests against Tesla,
including the burning of Tesla cars, vandalism of charging stations, and attacks on showrooms—some of which have occurred in Texas, Crockett’s home state.
Attorney General Pam Bondi publicly demanded that Crockett apologize to Tesla shareholders and denounce the violence.
Bondi highlighted that while Crockett clarified she did not wish physical harm on Musk, her words could incite unrest.
Bondi’s criticism came shortly after three explosive devices were found in Austin, adding urgency to calls for accountability.
Crockett has long been critical of Musk, particularly in his role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE),
which has overseen massive layoffs aimed at cutting federal spending. The situation has sparked a broader debate about
political rhetoric, accountability, and the impact public figures have on national discourse and public safety.
