1.7 Million Eggs Recalled Across 9 States Over Salmonella Risk

A multistate outbreak of Salmonella infections has led to the recall of 1.7 million dozen eggs distributed across nine U.S. states.

The August Egg Company issued the recall on June 6, 2025, following a joint investigation by the CDC, FDA, and state health agencies.

Affected products include both organic and cage-free brown eggs, identified by plant codes “P-6562” or “CA-5330” and Julian

dates between “32” and “126.” These eggs were sold under various brand names including Clover, First Street, O Organics, and Simple Truth.

The recalled eggs were distributed to major retailers such as Walmart, Safeway, FoodMaxx, and Ralphs in states including California,

Nevada, Arizona, and Illinois. The sell-by dates range from March 4 to June 19, 2025. Consumers are advised to check their egg cartons

and either discard the recalled products or return them to the store. So far, 79 cases of illness have been reported, though officials believe

the true number may be higher.Salmonella infection, also known as salmonellosis, can cause symptoms like fever, diarrhea, nausea, and stomach cramps.

While most people recover without medical treatment, the infection can be serious for children, the elderly, and individuals

with weakened immune systems. In rare cases, the bacteria can spread to the bloodstream and lead to severe complications.

To stay safe, consumers should practice proper food handling, wash hands regularly, and avoid consuming recalled items.

Health officials continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates if the recall expands. If you have

symptoms after consuming eggs, it’s important to consult a healthcare provider, especially if symptoms are severe or persistent.
