Tragedy in Clark Mills: Tornado Claims Lives of Twin Sisters and Devastates Community

A powerful EF-1 tornado struck Clark Mills, New York, on June 22, 2025, leaving a path of destruction and claiming three lives, including six-year-old

twin sisters Emily and Kenni Bisson. They were at home with their mother, Kayleigh, when a tree crashed through the roof, trapping them inside.

Neighbors rescued Kayleigh, but the twins tragically did not survive. Another resident, Shelly Johnson, also lost her life when her home was struck.

The tornado’s 105 mph winds tore through 2.4 miles of the town, uprooting trees and damaging homes. The Bisson family had recently

moved into the neighborhood, making the loss even more heartbreaking for the community. At Clinton Elementary, where

the girls attended first grade, grief counselors were brought in, and classes were paused as students and staff processed the loss.

A GoFundMe launched for Kayleigh, a single mother, quickly received overwhelming support, raising over $308,000.

The community has rallied around her, sharing memories of Emily and Kenni’s joyful personalities, love for dancing,

and passion for sports. Their absence has left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew them.

Governor Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency across 32 counties as the storm system continued to affect the region.

Emergency crews have been working around the clock to clear debris and help affected families.

The town of Clark Mills continues to grieve, holding tightly to the memory of the twin girls whose smiles once lit up their world.
