Texas Flood Tragedy: 21-Year-Old Joyce Badon and Two Campers Confirmed Among Victims

The devastating July 4 floods in Central Texas have claimed the lives of multiple victims, including 21-year-old Joyce Catherine Badon.

Joyce went missing after a flash flood swept through Hunt, Texas, while she was staying with friends. Her body was found days later, following

a desperate search. Her family confirmed the heartbreaking news and expressed gratitude for the support they received. Three of her friends—Ella Cahill,

Reese Manchaca, and Aidan Heartfield—were also swept away. Reese was later confirmed deceased, while Ella and Aidan remain missing.

Joyce’s final moments were described by her family as deeply emotional. She had been on the phone with the father of one of the friends

just before the floodwaters overtook them. As they tried to reach safety, all four were pulled away by the rising current.

Her mother shared a message of peace, saying she believes Joyce is now watching over them from above.

The same storm tragically affected Camp Mystic in Kerr County, where best friends Lila Bonner, 9, and Eloise Peck, 8, lost their lives.

Both were among several campers swept away in the floods. Their families later confirmed the loss, remembering the girls as joyful and full of life.

Another young camper, Hadley Hanna, remains missing as of July 6. Search and rescue teams continue to work around the clock in affected areas.

These stories have touched hearts across Texas and beyond. Communities are mourning together and honoring the memory of those lost.

As recovery efforts continue, the strength and unity shown by families, friends, and rescuers offer a small light in the midst of overwhelming grief.
