Cracker Barrel Apologizes for “Noose-Like” Décor at Connecticut Location
Cracker Barrel has apologized after a customer raised concerns about a noose-like decoration spotted at its East Windsor,
Connecticut restaurant. The item in question — an antique soldering iron with a wrapped cord — was hanging from the ceiling
and resembled a noose. Photos posted by Twitter user Alfonso Robinson quickly went viral, prompting outrage and calls for accountability.
Cracker Barrel responded, explaining that while the cord was original to the antique item, it was “completely unacceptable”
that staff failed to recognize the cord’s appearance before it was displayed. The item has since been removed.

Activist Keren Prescott, founder of PowerUp-Manchester, visited the restaurant and spoke with manager Mark Smith,
who acknowledged the item had been on display for 22 years unnoticed. Prescott appreciated Smith’s openness and
his comment: “You might notice things that I don’t,” acknowledging the role perspective plays in identifying racially sensitive symbols.
Cracker Barrel issued a statement to Fox News affirming its commitment to inclusivity and hospitality.

The incident has prompted calls on social media for the company to review all decorations in its restaurants to avoid similar oversights in the future.
