More than a month after celebrity chef Anne Burrell’s sudden death in June 2025, the cause has been confirmed as suicide. On July 24,

the New York City Medical Examiner revealed that Burrell died from acute intoxication caused by a mix of amphetamines, antihistamines, and alcohol.

Burrell, known for her vibrant personality and Food Network hits like Worst Cooks in America, was found

unconscious in her Brooklyn home on June 17. Her husband, Stuart Claxton, discovered her hours after their

last conversation. Despite emergency efforts, she could not be revived. Claxton has not publicly spoken about the tragedy.

While early speculation suggested suicide, the confirmation has deeply saddened fans and sparked

broader conversations about mental health in high-pressure industries.

Burrell’s career was marked by culinary excellence, a bestselling cookbook, and beloved TV appearances. Her bold presence and mentorship
