Harris Yulin, born November 5, 1937, in Los Angeles, passed away in August 2025 in New York City at age 87 due to

cardiac arrest. A versatile and commanding actor, Yulin’s career spanned stage, film, and television for over five decades.

He developed a love for theater early in life, studying acting in New York and later teaching at Juilliard.

His stage work included acclaimed performances in Shakespeare, Chekhov, and modern drama, earning respect for his intensity and deep voice.

Yulin found steady success in film and TV, known for playing powerful and morally complex characters. His notable

roles include Mel Bernstein in Scarface (1983), the judge in Ghostbusters II (1989), and key parts in Training Day (2001) and Clear

and Present Danger (1994). On television, he made memorable appearances on Frasier and gained a late-career fanbase as Buddy Dieker in Ozark.

Throughout his career, Harris Yulin was celebrated for elevating every role he played, delivering performances filled with depth,

authority, and nuance. He leaves behind a legacy of artistic excellence and a rich body of work admired by peers and audiences alike.
