“Mistaken Identity”: Grandmother Defends Grandson After FBI Arrest in Charlie Kirk Case

The shocking death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk during a campus event in Utah has left the nation

grieving and sparked debate over the investigation. Two days later, the FBI arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, calling it a politically motivated attack.

But Robinson’s grandmother, Debbie Robinson, publicly defended him, insisting he is innocent and the victim of mistaken identity.

Speaking to local media, Debbie described Tyler as a quiet young man with little interest in politics,

no history of aggression, and no firearms. “This isn’t him,” she said, rejecting the FBI’s portrayal.

Authorities, however, cited evidence linking Tyler to the shooting, including a recovered rifle,

rooftop surveillance footage, and footprints near the scene. Investigators also revealed that a family tip led them to Tyler,

though details remain unclear. Utah’s governor added that Robinson had recently expressed political frustrations, fueling further controversy.

As the case moves forward, two families face devastating realities—the Kirks mourning Charlie’s loss,

and the Robinsons fearing the possibility of life-changing consequences for Tyler. Whether the grandmother’s defense holds true

or the FBI’s evidence stands in court remains to be seen, but the outcome is one the nation will be watching closely.
