When the plane landed in Phoenix, air traffic control sent a solemn tribute: “Welcome home, Charlie.
You didn’t deserve it. May God bless your family.” His widow, Erika, walked hand-in-hand with Usha Vance,
clutching a rosary as National Guard members carried the coffin.
Kirk’s funeral will take place next week. Former President Donald Trump, calling it his “obligation,”
will attend and posthumously award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
