Robby Benson’s journey spans five decades, from teen idol to devoted grandfather and health advocate.

Rising to fame in the 1970s, he starred in films like Jeremy and Death Be Not Proud, quickly becoming

a household name. While his public life flourished, Benson quietly battled a congenital heart defect,

sharing the truth only with his wife, Karla DeVito, while balancing demanding schedules and rising stardom.

The 1980s brought new roles and family milestones. He portrayed Billy Mills in Running Brave and later appeared in TV

projects while building a life with DeVito and their children, Lyric and Zephyr. By the 1990s, Benson shifted toward directing,

including a season of Ellen. His career reinvention coincided with ongoing heart surgeries that tested his resilience.

In the 2000s and 2010s, Benson embraced health advocacy, writing the memoir I’m Not Dead … Yet! and reflecting on his challenges with

humor and honesty. He also revisited his beloved role as the Beast in Beauty and the Beast, connecting with fans through anniversary events.

Now living in the Pacific Northwest, Benson enjoys grandfatherhood, often sharing moments with his grandson Kingsley. At 69, he continues acting,
