Prince Harry is keen to repair the bridges burned between himself and his family, but first expects a “groveling apology” from Prince William and Kate Middleton.
That’s at least if author Tom Quinn is to believed, with the royal expert having told the Daily Mirror that Harry is open to the idea of reuniting with his loved ones across the pond.
Right now is a good time to be a fan of the royals – particular if you have a penchant for gossip and rumor – with the chaos surrounding the Royal Family having reached virtually unprecedented levels.
They say truth is stranger than fiction, and it’s difficult to argue that some of the storylines coming out of Buckingham Palace these past few months don’t read like the script of a gripping drama series.
While the respective cancer diagnoses dealt to King Charles and Kate Middleton are absolutely no laughing matter, the tragic plot twists have created an undeniable sense of heightened intrigue surrounding the British Royal Family. Suddenly the senior royals find themselves the ever-present subjects of news headlines, while the ins-and-outs of their daily lives are the subject of the media’s customary scrutinization.
Lurking in the background of all that has overshadowed the monarchy since Kate’s abdominal procedure back in January, is the inevitable topic of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The pair decided to step away from their royal duties for good in 2020, a move succeeded by their relocation across the Atlantic to take up residence in the US.
Since then their relationships with the likes of King Charles, Prince William, and Kate Middleton have worsened dramatically, helped in no small part by the revelations Harry and Meghan made in their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, their Netflix series, and Harry’s memoir Spare.
In recent times it’s looked as though a reunion between William and Harry – once steadfast siblings who stuck by one another through thick and thin – has been completely off the table, though rumors suggest that may change given Kate’s heartbreaking diagnosis.
As per the Daily Mirror, Prince Harry is expected to return to the UK in May for a celebration of the Invictus Games. A meeting with his older brother is then likely to occur.
Nevertheless, any ground made with regards to the improvement of their frosty relationship is reliant upon Harry receiving an apology, according to royal expert Tom Quinn.
“He wants to reconcile with his brother so that the children can have some kind of a relationship, but he and Meghan still think that a grovelling apology needs to come from William and Kate first,” Quinn told the Mirror.
“Harry has spoken to friends about his sadness at not have a closer relationship with his niece and nephews, but what is upsetting him even more is the prospect of Lilibet and Archie having no relationship at all with George, Charlotte and Louis.”
Quinn finished: “He has implied that if he gets an apology from his family then he is prepared to forgive, but that just isn’t going to happen.”
In the wake of the video announcing Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis, Harry and Meghan shared a short statement reading: “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.”
Conflicting reports have emerged concerning how much Harry and Meghan knew about Kate’s health issues prior to the video she put out on Friday. Certain sources have suggested that the Sussexes found out about Kate’s cancer when the video made its way to TV – that is to say at the same time as everybody else.
Other reports, however, have claimed that Harry and Meghan are kept in the royal loop on a case-by-case basis, and that they were entrusted with word of Kate’s diagnosis before the Princess of Wales had told the world.
Do you think there’s any hope for a reconciliation between Prince William and Harr?
