Trump and Obama Share Friendly Conversation at Carter’s Funeral
At the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter, President-elect Donald Trump
and former President Barack Obama were seen sharing a friendly conversation,
even laughing, which caught the attention of onlookers. Lip reader Jeremy Freeman
reported on the exchange, suggesting that Trump told Obama it was important for them to meet in a “quiet place” to “deal” with something.
According to Freeman, Obama responded with some uncertainty about the task, while Trump
downplayed the challenges. The two discussed arranging a later meeting, possibly in a foyer, and agreed to speak privately about an important matter.
When asked about the conversation afterward, Trump acknowledged the friendly interaction,
saying, “It did look very friendly.” He added that despite their differing philosophies, they likely get along.
The funeral, held at the National Cathedral, was a somber event marking Carter’s passing at 100 years old.
While the service was filled with moments of tension, especially between Vice President Harris
and the former presidents, Trump and Obama maintained a cordial rapport.
In another moment of controversy, Karen Pence, wife of former Vice President Mike Pence,
declined to shake hands with Melania Trump, sparking reactions on social media.
Despite the apparent snub, Melania responded gracefully with a polite smile.
